Frequently asked questions about Body Harnesses
Body harnesses come in various styles:
- Upper body harness, straps around chest, shoulders, and back. Frames the breasts without covering them
- Waist harness, sits around the waist and hips, like a belt but as lingerie
- Full body harness, runs from shoulders to upper thighs, connecting upper and lower body
- Leg harness, straps around the thighs, standalone or connected to a waist piece
Most harnesses are made from elastic strapping, faux leather, or genuine leather and come in black, red, or nude tones.
Fit is important with a body harness:
- Adjustable straps, choose a model with multiple adjustment points to customise it to your body shape
- Size, most harnesses come in S/M and L/XL, or one-size with adjustable buckles
- Try it on, a harness should sit snugly enough to stay in place but not so tight that it digs into the skin
- Plus size, many brands offer harnesses with extra-long straps for larger sizes
Adjustable models are the most versatile as every body is different.
A body harness adds an edge to your lingerie look:
- Over a bra, an upper body harness over a lace bra creates a layered, bold look
- Over a bodystocking, the harness adds structure to the soft fabric
- With a string, a minimalist harness with a string for a daring ensemble
- Under a blazer or blouse, wear the harness visibly under an open garment
Play with contrasts: soft lace combined with structured leather, or fine mesh with wide elastic bands.
Body harnesses are made from various materials:
- Elastic strapping, the most common. Comfortable, stretchy, and available in many colours. Suitable for extended wear
- Faux leather (vegan leather), gives a bolder look. Sturdier than elastic but less flexible
- Genuine leather, luxurious and durable but requires more maintenance. Softens over time
- Lace, a softer, more feminine version of a harness
For a first harness, elastic strapping is the most comfortable. For a more intense look, (faux) leather is a good choice.
